For All Students
Step 1: Learn all you can about the Anita Borg Institute and the Grace Hopper Celebration.
Step 2: Apply for a GHC Scholarship. See next section for more details.
- We also recommend applying for Facebook’s Grace Hopper Scholarship and Google’s GHC Scholarship.
- Check with your department as they may have funding for you to attend GHC Step 3: If you’re a researcher, apply to be a Poster Presenter and participate in the ACM Student Research Competition.
Step 3: Register to attend GHC 2016. Students have a discounted registration price of $350.
Step 4: Book your hotel and flights (or if you’re going with a group from your university, talk to your department to find out if they are arranging for this). You’ll want to arrive in time for the morning keynote on Wednesday and stay through Friday evening as most of our student and early career-focused programming occurs on Friday. Plus, you don’t want to miss the Friday Evening Celebration!
Step 5: Join the ABI Communities
Step 6: Attend GHC 2016.
For GHC Scholar Applicants
Step 1: Make sure you understand the benefits of a scholarship.
Step 2: Collect all of the items that you will need for your application. This includes:
- A thoughtful personal essay
- Unofficial transcripts
- A letter of recommendation from a faculty member. Note: You will need to provide the name, institution and email address of your recommender when you complete your GHC Scholar application.
Step 3: Submit your application by April 4, 2016.
Step 4: Follow up with your recommender to verify if they have submitted their letter on your behalf. Send them a nice thank you note for their time.
Step 5: Wait to hear from us. We expect to announce our decisions June 1, 2016.
