Yeah, Starbucks is cool but it’s more for the quick fix. There are others that make this list (like Agora and Boomtown) but these are the closest to the GRBCC where the coffee is more than just-coffee.
My favorite things are their dirty chai latte, mimosas and smoked salmon latkes. I love the decor and used my I-need-a-study-break card to show up here when I was at school studying on the weekends.
It’s close to the GRBCC and I’m a big fan of their macaroons. Place gets pretty crowded with college students but you know…when that sweet tooth hits, it hits.
So it’s a little further out but worth the drive. The place is always a buzz and the coffee is brewed so well. Try the freshly baked sweets! I walk in and forget about the diet I should be on.
Houston’s brewery scene is quickly growing and it makes me utterly happy. It’s hard for me to pick an absolute favorite so I came up with awards. I figured I’d list breweries and beer bars around (not an exhaustive list by any means) and let you have at em. Closest to the GRBCC is Saint Arnold, 8th Wonder, Flying Saucer, Moon Tower Inn and Mongoose vs Cobra. If you only had time for one brewery-Saint Arnold..one Beer bar-Mongoose vs Cobra.
Best beer, standard and seasonal: Karbach
Best limited releases beer and Best Tour: Saint Arnold (Karbach close second)
No Label (Katy, TX)
Lone Pint Brewery (Magnolia, TX)
