As the staff of the Anita Borg Institute watched Hurricane Irma shift west and then east on its path over Florida on Sunday and Monday, our primary concern remained with everyone affected by the storm. We were especially worried for our staff members who live and work in its path, and the many vendors and contractors in the region who are helping us prepare for the Grace Hopper Celebration next month.
At this time, we are evaluating the situation on the ground in Orlando. However, we have received no reports about any damage to facilities slated for use during the celebration, which leaves us very optimistic that GHC17 will go on as planned.
Stay tuned for another update later this week (see update). In the meantime, we look forward to seeing you in Orlando!
