Esther Rios

Esther Rios is from Puerto Rico, currently studying computer engineering at the University of Puerto Rico, Mayaguez Campus. She is a research and administrative assistant for her university’s department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. In the summer of 2013, Esther worked in the Exploration in Science Research Workshop at the University of California at Berkeley where she used MATLAB programming to interpret scientific data.

“There is an imposed fear caused by either family or society that has caused females to back away from an opportunity for what are considered ‘manly’ jobs. The Grace Hopper celebration is a great way to keep females enthusiastic and seed new interests in them.”
